Bryan Norton - 2011 Open Champion
Bryan Norton of Mission Hills, KS finished off what he started with his final round 3-under par 67. Norton knotted five birdies on the day including a birdie four at the closing hole. Norton’s two day score of 66-67-133 gave him a five stroke victory over 2010 Watson Challenge Low Amateur Don Walsworth. Walsworth finish one stroke ahead of a three way tie for third with Jon Troutman, Jorge Rubio, and Zac Dittmer.
Charlie Schorgl of Leawood, KS held off his competition by five strokes as well as the wind picked up and scores climbed in the senior division. Schorgl went out in 37, but made sure to right the ship on Indian Hills’ back side with an even-par saving birdie at the closing hole. Andy Smith, who claimed second place, finished a single stroke ahead of a three way tie for third between Mark Addington, Kevin Handlan, and Ed Walsworth.
Bryan Norton of Mission Hills, KS posted an opening round of 4-under par 66 Thursday at Indian Hills Country Club in the 2011 Kansas City Masters. Norton, who finished T4 at the 2011 Watson Challenge, struck quickly with a birdie three at the opening hole. Two more birdies on the front side sent Norton out in 32. Norton kept the card clean and added another birdie at the par-4 twelth hole to complete his 32-34-66 total. Norton is trailed by Jamie Schmitt of Grain Valley, MO at 68.
Charlie Schorgl of Leawood, KS holds a three stoke lead over Tom Leonard and Mark Addington thanks to his opening round of 3-under par 67. Schorgl had six birdies on the day on his way to a 34-33-67 finish to lead the Senior Division.
