The Kansas City Golf Association has announced Jon Troutman of Spring Hill, KS has captured the 2011 Amateur of the Year Honors after a top three finish at this year’s Kansas City Masters hosted by Indian Hills Country Club in October. Troutman, 35, kicked off his KCGA tournament season by claiming medalist honors at the 2011 US Open Local Qualifier conducted by the KCGA. Troutman advanced to Sectional Qualifying where a rough opening round took him out of contention. Soon after, Troutman was headed to the Kansas City Amateur hosted by Shoal Creek Golf Club in July. Troutman played brilliantly at the Amateur, outlasting Mark Terranova by a single stroke, to claim the victory at 5-under par. Troutman played brilliantly at all KCGA events he played in this season and undoubtedly deserves the honor of Kansas City Amateur of the Year. Troutman is trailed by Bryan Norton of Mission Hills, KS in second place who won this year’s Kansas City Masters and by Ryan Zech of Kearney, MO who finished third at both The Watson Challenge and Kansas City Amateur.
