Shoal Creek G.C. – On a day where temperatures never rose above 65 degrees, thirteen participants braved a chilly start and twenty mile an hour winds to attempt to advance to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.  The top three finishers from today’s qualifier advance to play Neshanic Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J.

Karisa Akin of Elizabethtown, Kentucky took home medalist honors with a two over par 73.  Local contestant, Madison Wolff took the second spot with a score of four over 75.  To determine the final spot advancing to the national championship two participants required a little “overtime.”  Gianna Misenhelter and Rachel Holloran tied for the final spot with five over 76s.  Misenhelter secured the final position with a birdie on the first playoff hole.

Rachel Holloran and and Whitney Pyle will wait for the call from the USGA as the first and second alternate respectively.
