Kansas City Country Club — On a  near perfect day for golf, forty nine men started the day with the hopes of qualifying for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Conway Farms in Illinios.  By the end of day the stern test that is Kansas City Country Club had identified the three individuals that will head to the next staff of competition.

Brian Haskell, Dennis Bull and Bryan Norton went 1, 2, 3, respectively today and will advance to the national championship held early next September.  Brian Haskell took medalist honors and finished as the only player under par after carding a two under 68.  Dennis Bull’s 71 was good enough for sole second.  Bryan Norton finished in a three way tie with Nic Rebne and Jake Istnick at two over 72.  The three competed in a sudden death playoff with Norton clinching the final qualifying position with a brilliant birdie on the first playoff hole.  Istnick and Rebne now wait for the call from the USGA as first and second alternates respectively.
