Standing on the 15th Kyle Yonke found himself behind
in the championship for the first time. Yonke who began the round
9-under with a 4 shot lead made a triple on hole 2 and then after
a double bogey on the 188 yard par 3 No. 14 Doug Albers had taken
a one shot lead. However, Yonke hitched up his belt and played the
difficult “final four” of Blue Hills in even par to
post a 6-under par 210. Meanwhile, Albers bogied 15, 16 and 17 and
was not able to birdie the 562 yard par 5 18th to catch Yonke.
In the Senior Open Division Tom Bachelor and Mark
Crow tied with a 54 hole total of 217. In the play-off Bachelor
hit his approach shot on the 513 yard par 5 No. 1 to within 2 feet
of the hole for a birdie and victory. Bachelor is the first two
time winner of the Senior Division. Bachelor’s other victory
came in 2004 at Staley Farms Golf Club.
David Kirschbaum of Kansas City continued his good
play with a final round 77 to post a one shot victory Richard Wills
of Overland Park in the Players Division. In the net scoring of
the Players Division, Rich Nigh posted a 2-under par 70 in the final
round for a 54- hole total of 210 and a two shot victory.
Don Cox of Lake Quivira for the third straight day
bettered his previous day by one shot in route to a six shot margin
of victory over Fred Rowland of Leawood in the Legends Division.
In the net scoring, Leroy Rottinghaus matched his second round 69
to win the net championship.
