Don Kuehn of Kansas City shot the
low score of the day to win the StateLine Amateur Tour event at
Falcon Lakes Golf Course. Kuehn used four birdies in route to
his 4-under par 68 performance. The 4-under par 68 posted by Kuehn
ties him with Aaron Steven's for
the low gross score of the year on the Tour. Kuehn's playing
partner Tom Bachelor, the reigning Kansas City Amateur Senior
Division champion, also shot an impressive round with a 3-under par
69, good enough for a second place finish.
In the Open Division, future UMKC
Roo golfer Sam Klos of Leawood posted an even par 72 to take top
honors. Despite getting off to a rough start when he bogeyed
the first hole, Klos finished his round with five birdies. In
second was Drew Carlson of Mission Hills who continued his
successful week with a 1-over par 73.
Steve Hammond of Parkville
continued his dominance in the Players Division as he won the gross
scoring with a 1-under par 71 and the net scoring with a 5-under par
67. Jeffrey Meyer, who walked up to fill the spot of a
no-show, posted a 3-over par 75 to take second place in gross
scoring. Jim Gencur took second place in net scoring with a
4-under par 68. Mark Horstmann who finished in a tie for 3rd
in the gross scoring eagled the 470 yard par 5 1st hole.
In the Legends Division Jim Lodes
of Lenexa and Ron Brewer of Leawood finally stopped perennial power
Grant Renne's winning streak of four straight events in the gross
scoring. Lodes and Brewer tied with a 1-over par 73. In
net scoring Lodes and Brewer made it a clean sweep as they tied for
low round with 4-under par 68's.
