Women’s Fore State Team Championship

The Women’s Fore State Team Championship was established in 1995 to promote a friendly rivalry among amateur women golfers from the four border states of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Each team will be comprised of 12 female amateur golfers in various ages to represent each state. Team members are chosen based on a 24-month rolling points list based on the participation and results in regional championships. Additional parameters for selection and support of each Fore State Team players, Team Captain and/or Assistant Team Captain and Rules Official shall be at the discretion of that States Association.

In 1995, Edell Wortz from Hardscrabble CC in Fort Smith, Arkansas, a life-long supporter of women’s and girl’s golf in the United States, donated the Wortz trophy and organized the first Fore State Championship in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Fore State is a three-day annual event with a Ryder Cup format combining four-ball, foursomes and singles matches. Each state alternates as the host state. Arkansas is set to host in 2019 and Kansas in 2020.

This past Fore State Championship was hosted at Muskogee Golf Club in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Championships by state: Oklahoma – 11, Missouri – 8, Arkansas – 3, Kansas – 2
